Pre-surgical process
- We require all pets be fasted for 12 hours prior to their surgical procedure. We do this to prevent any vomiting before, during, or after the procedure.
- Pre-operative bloodwork is conducted to ensure the health and safety of the pet to endure general anesthesia.
- A pre-surgical exam is done by our surgeon the morning of the procedure to ensure the health and safety of the pet.
- An updated weight is checked to ensure all pre-operative, post-operative, and anesthesia is administered properly.
- An IV catheter is placed so that fluids can be administered and so that we have direct access to the vein in case of emergency.
- A technician closely monitors each pet before, during, and after the procedure.
